Rodney Collier, who, along with other cyclists known in Bladen County as the Cape Fear Cyclist-Lakeshore Riders and rides the rural roads in Bladen County frequently, is participating in the Cycle North Carolina Mountains to the Sea ride scheduled in a couple of weeks.
The ride will cover ore than 500 miles across the state.
Recently, Collier decided to raise money for a little girl named Amelia Roberson from White Oak.
The riders started noticing signs, “Pray for Amelia.” on several of their rides around Bladen County. Roberson is the daughter of Lane and Kristen Roberson who was born with spina bifida and spent the first two months of her life in Duke University Medical Center.
In the upcoming ride across the state, Collier is accepting pledges per mile hoping to raise money to help the family. All donations will be given directly to the Amelia Roberson Fund to help the family with medical and other expenses.
Collier has completed six century rides since his first, which he completed back in June. The miles traveled along the rural roads in and around Bladen County have inspired him to do more than just ride.
With the support of other club members, he will “Ride for Amelia” across the l state of North Carolina.
