ELIZABETHTOWN — Bladen County Animal Control will increased the vaccination fees on dogs to $25, which includes a de-wormer, rabies and Core vaccination shots.

The vaccination fee has not changed on cats, remaining at $15.

This increase in the dog fee is due to the rising cost of vaccines. This fee will apply to local adopters as well as rescue organizations.

The shelter will also be offering Micro-chipping as an option for any animal adopted at a $15 fee.

“We hope that the continued vaccination of Shelter animals will ensure healthier animals being adopted,” said Karen Suggs, manager of the Bladen County Animal Shelter, “and the new Micro-chipping option for animals will ensure more pets find their way back home.”

The new fees will become effective on Oct. 1.
