ELIZABETHTOWN — The Bladen County Shrine Club held its annual fish fry for Shriner’s Children’s Hospital on Wednesday, and once again it was a big success.
Overcast skies coupled with cool, damp conditions didn’t keep folks from enjoying a plate of hot fish with all the trimmings.
Cadets with the Tar Heel Challenge Academy assisted with serving the plates while volunteers cooked and prepared fish and sweet potato fries for the cookers.
Richard “Sling” Shaw, president of the Bladen Shrine Club, said that sales were steady at both locations as of mid-afternoon on Wednesday.
“All the proceeds raised will go to support the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals,” said Shaw.
