ELIZABETHTOWN — The votes have been cast, the numbers have been crunched and tabulated, and the winners have been declared in the second annual Bladen Journal Virtual Costume Contest.

The contest was sponsored by title sponsor Fair Bluff Ford, along with category sponsors Johnson Law Firm and Bounce Brothers Bounce Houses.

The overall winner with his costume called “Moses and the Ten Commandments” was Randy West of Clarkton.

“Our church, First Baptist Church in Clarkton, did a trunk-or-treat a few years ago and I wore this costume at the trunk display,” said West. “I won first place there.”

West said the costume is complete with a rendition of the Ten Commandments and a burning bush display.

“I’ve won numerous trunk-or-treats,” said West of his love of dressing up.

A word to area competitors, West added that he plans to enter the contest again next year.

“I love competition,” said West.

Second place goes to Sue Lutz of Bladenboro with her costume “The Red Queen,” and third place was awarded to Andrea Carter Fisher of Elizabethtown for her daughter’s costume “Pirate Alexis.”

“All of the entries were pretty awesome,” said Bladen Journal GM/editor W. Curt Vincent.” A lot of folks really look forward to this each year, and some go all out to create a winning costume.”
