Schools raise money for tornado victims

A number of schools in the Bladen County School District organized relief efforts for the spring 2013 Oklahoma tornado victims and, recently, those schools were recognized for their donation by the Highlands Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Selling red paper “Crosses for Hope” and “HATS - Helping After the Storm,” students at the following schools were able to raise a total of $2,988.70 for the Oklahoma victims:

  • Bladen Lakes Primary, $269
  • Bladenboro Primary, $236.50
  • Dublin Primary, $1,909
  • Elizabethtown Primary, 474.20
  • Elizabethtown Middle, $100
