Bladen County hosts regional PIOs

ELIZABETHTOWN — Bladen County Schools was the recent host of the Sandhills Regional Education Consortium school district Public Information Officers meeting.

The SREC is a collaboration of a dozen K-12 public school districts in southeastern North Carolina. The consortium is a strong partnership working together to ensure continuous professional development of its members for the ultimate goal of providing the very best teachers and leaders for students in the region.

The group is made up of school districts from Anson, Bladen, Columbus, Cumberland, Harnett, Ft. Bragg, Hoke, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Richmond, Robeson, Scotland and Whiteville City.

In attendance at the Bladen meeting, the North Carolina Association of School Administrators Executive Director Katherine Joyce spoke about recent legislative changes to public education and how the changes affect districts at the local level.
