ELIZABETHTOWN — East Bladen High’s Lady Eagles will take their first step into the second round of the state’s Class 2-A basketball playoffs in three seasons tonight, when they host the Lady Panthers of North Pitt at 7 p.m.

East Bladen brings a 26-1 overall record into the game after posting an easy 56-27 win over Warren County in Monday’s playoff opener. The Lady Eagles are co-champions of the Four County Conference and the conference tournament champions.

North Pitt, 18-6 out of the Eastern Plains Conference, won its opener over North Brunswick in equally easy fashion by a 59-33 verdict.

The Lady Panthers will bring a tall order for East Bladen to deal with in Dorian Sharp, North Pitt’s 6-foot center who fills up a scorebook with averages of 16 points, 15 rebounds, six blocks and five steals per game. On the outside is guard Ty’Quisha Gainer, another sophomore who is averaging16 points per game.
