Suggs tabbed Player of the Year, Evers shares coaching honors

After a 28-2 season a run to the Class 2-A East Region semifinals on the hardcourt, the Lady Eagles of East Bladen garnered two post-season Four County Conference awards when sophomore Lacey Suggs was named Player of the Year and head coach Patty Evers was tabbed Co-Coach of the Year.

Suggs, who averaged just over 19 points per game for East Bladen, was selected to the conference’s top spot just ahead of Clinton freshman Mikayla Boykin and West Bladen’s Courtney Thompson.

Evers shared the top coaching honor with Clinton’s Chris Owens, who led the Lady Dark Horses to a 23-4 record and deep run in the Class 2-A playoffs.

On the boys side, Rasheed Brown from Heidi Trask was selected the conference’s Player of the Year, just ahead of Midway’s Quincy Baggett.
