Early voting opens Thursday

ELIZABETHTOWN — Officials with the Bladen County Board of Elections are gearing up for the second wave of voting to begin for the May 6 primary.

Early voting will start on Thursday, with four locations being designated to accept ballots.

Those four locations are:

— Bladenboro Historical Building at 818 S. Main St.

— Dublin Lions Club at 120 Second St.

— East Arcadia Town Hall at 1516 East Arcadia Road, Riegelwood.

— Bladen County Library on Cypress Street, Elizabethtown.

The voting hours will be Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 a.m. at all locations except the Bladen County Library, which will be open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

According to officials with the Bladen County Board of Elections, more than 600 absentee ballots were mailed out a few weeks ago and, as of Friday, slightly more than half have been returned.

The voter registration rolls in Bladen County show there are about 14,800 Democrats, 3,000 Republicans and 4,500 independent voters in the county.
