LUMBERTON — A 26-year-old woman has been charged with attacking and robbing a man who works with the Lumberton Housing Authority, according to Lumberton police Capt. Terry Parker.
Freddie Smith told police that Erica Lyn McIe and a man she was with hit him with a hammer, stabbed him and robbed him on May 1 and also stole a van belonging to the Lumberton Housing Authority.
Smith said he was near his home in a mobile home park on Roberts Avenue when the two attacked him and made off with $35 in cash, a $10 wallet, keys and bank cards, according to a police report.
The van, valued at $4,000, was found burned near Maxton the same day.
McIe was arrested in Bladen County on Wednesday and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, burning of personal property, felony conspiracy, robbery with a deadly weapon, first-degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
After the incident was reported, Lt. Harold Jackson said Smith and McIe are acquaintances. The man she was with has not been identified, Parker said.
McIe, who lives on Carthage Road, has been jailed under a $150,000 bond. She faced drug possession charges last year.
