Lilibeth Deavers, a local hair dresser at Joseph D. Salon, has been a hair stylist for many years, spending seven years in Saudi Arabia styling the royal families hair, along with many other ladies and gentlemen wanting the latest hair fashions. Upon leaving Saudi Arabia, Lilibeth moved to the United States. She has been styling and pampering ladies and gentlemen here in the U.S. for the past thirteen years.

Deavers left her native Philippines to work as a beautician in Saudi Arabia, where she met and married her husband, John Deavers, an electrical engineer from Bladenboro. After overcoming a number of barriers, the Deavers returning to the Philippines, where their son was born. It took Lilibeth two years to get her visa to enter the United States after she and John were married.

Deavers has been in Bladen County for nine years. She and John have been married for 11 years. Their son is now 10 years old and they have a 5 year old daughter. “I love it here, it is home to me. I go back to the Philippines every two or three years to visit my family, and I miss them,” said Deavers. “But, I always come back to Bladen." During her early years in the United States she learned she needed to quality to the standards here in order to work as a cosmetologist in North Carolina. She entered the cosmetology training at Bladen Community College. Once she completed her training, she received her license and began working.
