— Trinity United Methodist Church on West Broad Street in Elizabethtown will be the site for an Alzheimer’s and dementia workshop called “Dementia Friendly North Carolina: A Strategic Plan for Addressing Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias” from 9 to11 a.m. The workshop is geared towards family caregivers and professionals who would like to learn how North Carolina is preparing to meet the demands of caring for older adults with dementia who will need long-term care. This workshop is being sponsored by the Lumber River Council of Government’s Family Caregiver Support Program, Trinity United Methodist Church and Bladen County Division on Aging. — Join a park ranger for a discussion on Jones Lake’s largest mammal … the black bear. Learn about the biology and habits of the king of the forest. Feb. 4

— Relay for Life will hold its 2nd annual formal Valentine Cancer Gala with big door prizes, your bag, entertainment, a live DJ, great food, and more. Tickets are $35 per person and will go on sale in October. The gala will take place at 6 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Elizabethtown.
