Bladen County trooper retires after three decades

Staff report

DUBLIN — A Highway Patrol trooper stationed in Bladen County recently retired after almost three decades of service last week, and that service was recognized last week.

Thomas Hunsinger served 29 years as a state trooper, part of which was spent in the VIPER department, the inter-operable communications arm of state law enforcement.

On Tuesday, Feb. 21, Hunsinger celebrated with friends, co-workers and family at a dinner at Dowless & Company in Dublin. He was presented with a framed certificate to honor his service to the community.

“He’s a great guy,” said the Rev. Dewayne Lambeth, pastor of Hunsinger’s church, Center Road Baptist in Bladenboro. “We plan to keep him busy at the church now that he has begun his retirement.”

Hunsinger has served as part-time youth coordinator at Center Road Baptist and plans to devote more time to ministry in his retirement.
