A severe thunderstorm hammered the region Monday evening, but it wasn’t lightning that cause about 3,100 Bladen County residents to lose power.
According to the Four County EMC Facebook page, a buzzard was the culprit for customers who woke without power Tuesday morning.
“An early morning outage in Bladen County was caused by a buzzard coming in contact with a substation transformer,” the company’s Facebook page stated. “The outage affected approximately 3,100 members who feed out of the Guyton, Tar Heel and Scruggs substations.”
Four County EMC said the outage occurred at 6:34 a.m. and was restored by 7:11 a.m.
