ELIZABETHTOWN — Bargain hunters are getting ready to start searching for deals when the annual Labor Day Sidewalk Sale kicks off on Friday.

Ray Britt, owner of Ray’s Furniture & Jewelry Liquidators, said shoppers will have the opportunity to get a head start on their Christmas shopping list.

“If you miss this sale, you have missed a great opportunity,” said Britt.

He said he will have a pre-Christmas sale on all jewelry items with prices below wholesale. Britt said the jewelry in the store will be an additional one-half off the Ray’s price.

“We are expecting a great weekend,” said Britt.

He said another service the store offers its customers is custom picture framing. He said customers drive from as far away as Raleigh and Wilmington to have pictures custom framed.

He also said that everything in the store is on sale.

“All the furniture and everything we offer is on sale,” said Britt.

Mike Suggs, owner of Fisher’s Mens and The Ladies Shop, said items on the sidewalk will range from 50 to 90 percent off.

“All of our remaining summer merchandise will be 50 percent off,” said Suggs.

He said there will be shoes and flip-flops available for purchase.

Suggs said the store has started to receive their fall merchandise so customers will have a good variety to choose from.

“We have a little bit of all of it,” said Suggs.

He added that there is still a good selection of school uniforms available as well.

Tina-Merritt-Smith of Fowler’s Jewelry said that the Citizen Echo Drive watches are 30 percent off for Labor Day and all of the Niki Lissoni collection will be 25 percent off.

Merritt-Smith said diamond earrings are on sale starting at $15.99 and customers can layaway items now for Christmas.

Merritt-Smith said the store also can do special orders for customers as well as engraving and monogramming.

Ricky Leinwand, owner of Leinwand’s, said the Labor Day Sidewalk Sale is the biggest sale of the year, not just in his store, but for all stores.

He said if people think the Fourth of July sale is good, this one is even better.

“This is the end of the year, and the end of the summer, and we don’t want to carry over summer merchandise,” said Leinwand.

He said all summer merchandise will be marked down. Leinwand said that bargains aren’t just found on the sidewalk, either. He said there are great deals inside the store as well.

Leinwand added all of the Nike brand shoes will be half price for men, ladies, and children. He said the store does have a layaway plan year round.
