DURHAM — Four Bladen County commissioners — Arthur Bullock, Michael Cogdell, Ashley Trivette and Ophelia Munn-Goins — attended the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners 2017 Annual Conference held Aug. 10-13 in the Durham Convention Center.

A feature of the conference was the YouthVoice “Real Colors” Training.

Additionally, Sue Klebold — the mother of Columbien High shooter Dylan Klebold — was the guest speaker during the youth’s general session, entitled “Reaching for Hope” and she gave a stirring speech.

Shonita Hayes of Council, a rising senior at East Bladen High School, was Bladen County’s youth representative at the conference. She attends Kitchen Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Council.

Former Bladen County Commissioner Robert Hester also attended the conference.
