Cry Out Bladen held at courthouse


ELIZABETHTOWN — Despite being delayed from its original date of Sept. 11 by weather, then moved inside because of weather on Monday, the annual Cry out America event — newly dubbed Cry Out Bladen — brought together more than 70 people to praise and pray for Bladen County and America.

The event was held in the Bladen County Superior Courtroom, where several local pastors, numerous elected officials, veterans, first-responders and others were honored through impassioned speeches. The event also included a changing of the American flag ceremony, during which Hakeem Brown sang ‘God Bless America.’

Speakers included the Rev. Larry hayes, the Rev. Louis Boykin, the Rev. Dwayne Lambert, Pastor Bill Tatum and Pastor Rachael Mitchell.
