DUBLIN — Big things are happening at Lu Mil Vineyard, thanks to the help and addition of Carla Ward.
Ward, who comes to Lu Mil after assisting the Taylor family with several special projects and has worked at the Vineyard full-time since May as director of marketing, greets customers at the Dublin location with a warm smile and southern charm.
Ward said that she has always been involved in some form of sales and marketing. She worked with Campbell University in sports marketing, development and fundraising.
“I’m a high energy person and I can relate to what goes on here at the Vineyard very well. I grew up on a farm similar to this,” said Ward.
She added that Lu Mil Vineyard has been rapidly expanding, so owner Ron Taylor and his sister Denise Bridgers decided it was time to bring someone else on board to help with the operations.
“The Vineyard is in a growth mode,” said Ward.
She said, together, they are working on increasing the activity at the Vineyard Sunday through Thursday.
“There are several things we are working on that are engaging a lot of senior groups, youth groups and children through college-aged adults.
“We are doing education tours, corporate events from team building groups to large group meetings,” said Ward.
She added the Vineyard is also hosting a lot of church retreats for boards and board members.
Ward said that the growth Lu Mil Vineyard has experienced has lead to Taylor and Bridgers being able to attend the many events and trade shows they would like to enter.
“They asked me to do trade shows, community events and on-site,” said Ward.
Recently, Ward represented Lu Mil Vineyard at the Taste of Robeson event. She said attendees were able to taste and see some of D’Vine Foods jams and jellies and salsa.
Ward said events like Taste of Robeson help to introduce folks who are unfamiliar with Lu Mil Vineyard to its products. She said it is an opportunity to showcase what Lu Mil has to offer such as its cabins, tours, and entertainment as well as its products.
She said the show is also a charitable event.
“It helps us to give back,” said Ward.
Some upcoming scheduled events for Lu Mil include the Grape Festival scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10. There will be a community yard sale with set-up beginning at 6 a.m.
“Space is free and on a first come, first served basis,” said Ward.
There will also be food vendors on hand and live entertainment. The highlight of the day is the grape stomp event.
Another upcoming event will be the annual Festival of Lights which is set to begin on Nov. 28.
