ELIZABETHTOWN — The Kiwanis of Elizabethtown met at its new meeting place, San Jose Restaurant, on Tuesday evening to discuss ways to help the children of our county and the world.

Kiwanian Lisa Bryan told the group about a video she suggested everyone watch titled, “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek. She suggested, “When someone ask you, ‘What is the Kiwanis Club about?’, you can tell them our why is to help children.”

Bryan also reported the Kiwanis of Elizabethtown and Carolinas District of Kiwanis participated in the Division 26 meeting at St. James Plantation in September. She said, “The Elizabethtown Kiwanis were recognized for as a club with growth this year.”

According to Bryan, the Carolina District, which is made up of North Carolina and South Carolina clubs, was also recognized for its 100-year anniversary project. The clubs delivered 6.5 million pounds of food for local food banks. The local club delivered their canned food goods to Bladen Crisis Center.

The club has a busy schedule meeting out in the community for the next couple of months. The next regular Kiwanis meeting will be at San Jose Restaurant in Elizabethtown the third Tuesday of January at 7 p.m. If you are interested in helping children and would like to learn more about the club, you’re invited to attend the meeting or visit their Facebook page.
