A total of 310 Bladen County seniors — 158 at West Bladen High and 152 at East Bladen High — completed their high-school careers over the weekend and received their diplomas.

West Bladen High graduation ceremonies were held Friday evening in a packed gymnasium filled with school administration and staff, family and friends.

The purple- and white-clad seniors were given words of congratulations and encouragement from Bladen County Superintendent Robert Taylor — as well as from Class of 2015 valedictorian Jeremy Lyn David and Salutatorian Jordan Dakota Roberts.

After the speeches, the 158 graduating Knights walked single-file to the stage and received their diplomas from Principal Wesley Floyd. And when each had their diplomas in hand, the turning of the tassels brought an eruption of applause from the crowd and celebration among the graduates.

East Bladen High’s graduation took place Saturday morning in the gymnasium full of school administration and staff, friends and family.

The 152 blue- and white-clad Eagles sat patiently as they were given words of congratulations and encouragement for the future by Taylor — as well as Class of 2015 Valedictorian Abby Norris and Salutatorian Geomae Peterson.

Following the speeches, the graduates walked single-file to the stage and received their high-school diplomas from Principal John McMillian.

Once each of the graduates had their diplomas, the gymnasium exploded into cheers, applause and celebration.
