A Star Wars super-fan who days ago fulfilled his final wish of seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens has passed away, his family said. Daniel Fleetwood’s wife, Ashley, shared the news with his supporters on Facebook.

A lifelong fan of the Star Wars franchise, Fleetwood was worried he wouldn’t live to see the latest installment on its Dec. 18 release date. He had been given less than two months to live after his spindle cell sarcoma became more aggressive. His friends and family set up a GoFundMe Page petitioning for him to be able to see the movie before he died.

Fleetwood’s story went viral with the hashtag #ForceForDaniel, and even Star Wars actor Mark Hamill expressed his support. Disney, Lucasfilm and Bad Robot heard about Fleetwood’s dream and agreed to let him see it early, according to ABC News. He watched an unedited version of the film in his home in Texas late last week.

Fleetwood passed away overnight Monday in his sleep, his wife wrote on Facebook.

“He is now one with God and with the force. He passed in his sleep and in peace,” she wrote.
