LAKE WACCAMAW — This past Saturday was the International Kiwanis One Day. The Elizabethtown Kiwanis Club spent the day in service at the Boys and Girls Home of North Carolina in Lake Waccamaw.

Kiwanians from across the district including the Elizabethtown club spent the day landscaping around the Kiwanis Cabin and socializing.

“I feel like we accomplished our mission by enhancing the Kiwanis cottage and interacting with the boys and girls of the cottages,” Johnny Anderson from the local club said.

Elizabethtown Kiwanian Bruce Barbour gave the youth rulers on behalf of the local club and presented a check for $2,500 to the District Kiwanis Club to assist with the Eliminate Project.

Barbour said, “The club and the projects are worth it.”

Gary Faircloth, president of the Boys and Girls Homes of NC, spoke to the club members about the mission of the home and some of their latest accomplishments.
