DUBLIN — West Bladen High School has released its 2016 graduation information.

Awards Night: Monday, May 23, 2016 at 6 p.m.

Baccalaureate Service: (Seniors Only) Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 6 p.m. Seniors arrive at 5:30 with cap, gown, stole, cords, tassel and line-up in media center

Graduation: Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 10 a.m.

Seniors should arrive by 9:00 and report to the cafeteria for dress code check and preparation for marching in to gymnasium. Doors for graduation open at 8:30 and close promptly at 10:00. No one will be admitted inside after the doors close.

Graduation Rehearsals:

All seniors must attend both graduation rehearsals in order to participate in graduation exercises. The rehearsal will take place at WBHS main gymnasium.

Monday, June 6, 2016 from 8 to 11:30 a.m.

Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 8 to 12:30

(Lunch will be served on Wednesday.)

Tickets:

Tickets for addmission to graduation will be given to seniors on Wednesday, June 8 after lunch and must be counted and signed for. Seniors will receive eight tickets: six for the main gym and two tickets for the auxillary gym

Senior Dress for Graduation:

All seniors must be properly dressed in West Bladen High School cap, gown, stole, and tassel and follow the school code of dress for graduation, or they will not be allowed to participate in graduation.

Monies owed/grade criteria for graduation exercises participation

Any senior who owes one penny to the school, or who fails a requried course for graduation by even one point, or owes even one minute of time to a class required for graduation will not be allowed to take part in graduation exercises or receive a diploma.

Behavior at Graduation Exercises

The diploma of any senior will be held by the school until a determined date due to any senior guest who cannot/does not follow the graduation etiquette as will be outlined in the program and read before the graduation exercises begin. This is an important day for all seniors, and all seniors deserve to be recognized and celebrated. Therefore, there will be no celebrations at the time a name is called for receiving a diploma. A time of celebration will be planned in the program. Please refrain from bringing any type of celebratory items into the school. These will not be allowed.

Dress code

Caps, gowns, silver stoles, and tassels (Beta Club members may elect to wear the gold Beta stole.) are required for all seniors who plan to participate.

Seniors are expected to dress according to the following guidelines:

Males: White button-up dress shirt with collar (no knit shirts); solid black neck-tie (no bow-tie ties); black dress pants (no jeans or denim); black dress shoes (no tennis shoes, sandals, flip-flops, boots, etc.); black socks; cap level (flat) on top of head (not tilted on back of head); no gum. Wear tassel on left.

Females: Dress or blouse and skirt or blouse and black dress pants (no capri pants, jeans, shorts, etc.). Dress and/or blouse must have sleeves (no sleeveless, strapless or spaghetti straps tops) and should not show cleavage or be low-cut; hose (if worn) should match skin-tone; black closed toe and closed heel dress shoes (no tennis shoes, sandals, flip-flops, boots, etc.).

Remember that heels may catch on steps going up or down from the stage; cap level (flat) on top of head (not tilted on back of head); no gum. Wear tassel on left. Collar of dress/blouse should not be visible above the neck of the graduation gown and dress must not be seen below the bottom of the graduation garment. Dresses/skirts must adhere to the Bladen County Schools’ Dress Code Policy (extended fingertip length).

Jewelry (for both males and females): No necklaces; no earrings other than button or stud style; visible jewelry in piercings other than the lobe of the ear must be removed (no clear retainers and no gauges); watches may be worn but all alarms/sounds must be turned off; one ring only (class or commemorative) allowed on hands.

No cords except West Bladen High School approved honor cords are to be worn.

No decorations or anything else may be added to the cap, gown, stole, tassel, or approved cords for males or females.
