DUBLIN — Area cooks are being urged to dig out their favorite peanut recipe and brush up on cooking skills — all in preparation for the annual Dublin Peanut Festival cooking contest.

The Dublin Peanut Festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Dublin Primary School on Hwy. 87.

Dishes will be judged in three separate categories: Candy, bread and dessert. Contestants will be divided into two age groups: Youth (ages 8 to 16) and Adult (ages 17 and up). Age is determined by the age you will be on the day of the festival.

Cash prizes will be awarded in each category: First place, $50; second place, $30; and third place, $20.

All applications must be received by Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m. For an application and a complete list of the rules, call Bladen County Extension Director Sandra Cain at 910-862-4591 or email her at Sandra_Cain@ncsu.edu.
