ELIZABETHTOWN — The Cape Fear River expanded to several times its normal width after Hurricane Matthew, and almost completely engulfed Tory Hole Park in downtown Elizabethtown. Shown in the photos are a large tree uprooted across the parking lot, the flooded public boat ramp and the gully washed down into the park from the edge of the U.S. 701 North bridge.
