BLADENBORO — One man was sent to the hospital and another to jail after a reported shooting Sunday along Bladenboro Airport Road.

Chief Deputy Rodney Hester with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to 229 Bladenboro Airport Road on the report that an individual had been shot.

“When deputies arrived, they found that a subject had been shot in the back with birdshot from a shotgun,” Hester said.

The victim was transported to Bladen County Hospital by Bladen EMS, where he was treated and released.

“The investigation revealed that the victim was at the residence attempting to talk with his ex-girlfriend when the shooting occurred,” Hester said.

Deputies arrested Reginald Dewayne Hines, 55, and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury. He was booked into the Bladen County Jail, where he remains under a $100,000 secured bond.
