CLARKTON — On the heels of a five-month investigation, a search warrant resulted in a pair of arrests at a residence on Quill Moore Road in Clarkton on Sunday.


The joint effort between the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office and Lumberton Police Department also saw investigators seize 4.5 grams of crack cocaine, four bundles of heroin, digital scales, a Taurus .38 handgun and $1,540.


Arrested was:


— Sharod Lloyd Jones, 42, of Clarkton, who was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell/deliver heroin, manufacturing cocaine and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances. He remains in the Bladen County Jail under a $150,000 secured bond.


— Cynthia Powell, 49, of Clarkton, who was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell/deliver heroin, manufacturing cocaine and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances. He was released from the Bladen County Jail after posting a $25,000 secured bond.


According to Chief Deputy Rodney Hester with the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.

In an unrelated three-month investigation, deputies made an arrest on Sunday in an undercover prescription pill case.


Arrested was Kellye Bryant Lewis, 45, of Elizabethtown. She was charged with two counts of trafficking by sell of opium, two counts of trafficking by possession of opium and two counts of trafficking by deliver of opium.


She was released from the Bladen County Jail after posting a $100,000 secured bond.
