ELIZABETHTOWN — Deputies with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office had a busy week between Aug. 13 and Aug. 20, answering 60 calls from the public.


Among those were 10 calls for breaking and/or entering, eight for verbal and/or physical assault, five for drugs, five for larceny and one each for alarms, suspicious activity and a suicide attempt.


There were also 17 arrests during that time.


Following are the more important and/or interesting arrests:


— Rodney Sylvester Lesane, 53, charged with assault with a deadly weapon at 105 Courthouse Drive in Elizabethtown on Aug. 17.


— Michael Anthony Smith, 24, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 903 Storms Road in Bladenboro on Aug. 18.


— Tyrell Lamont Rhodie, 29, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 903 Storms Road in Bladenboro on Aug. 18.


— Jomathan Lynn Shaw, 25, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 903 Storms Road in Bladenboro on Aug. 18.


— Tiffany Michelle Shaw, 24, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 903 Storms Road in Bladenboro on Aug. 18.


— Demetrius Terrel Smith, 33, charged with civil contempt for child support at 105 Courthouse Drive in Elizabethtown on Aug. 19.


— Ricky Lee Smith, 26, charged with communicating threats at 128 Howie Hammonds Road in Clarkton on Aug. 19.


— Wilford Brad Davis, 34, charged with felony possession with intent to sell/deliver a Schedule II controlled substance at 2612 Twisted Hickory Road in Elizabethtown on Aug. 19.


— Juan Carlos Dial, 36, charged with two counts of assault on a female at 38 H&A Drive in White Oak on Aug. 19.
