ELIZABETHTOWN — A three-month undercover investigation by narcotics investigators with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in warrants for the arrest of 14 individuals on various drug charges.

According to Sheriff Jim McVicker, the undercover investigation targeted the sale and delivery of prescription pills, cocaine, and marijuana in the county.

“The operation, known as Summertime Shakedown, entailed many hours of surveillance and numerous undercover purchases by agents,” McVicker said.

Eleven of the 14 suspects were arrested last week. Three suspects have not been located but McVicker said their arrests are anticipated in the near future.

“We are committed to making the trade in illegal narcotics as difficult as we can in the county,” said McVicker. “This crime not only hurts those addicted to these drugs, but it hurts their families and the community. We all pay a price for illegal drugs in our county.”
