RED SPRINGS — Authorities continue to look for two men who robbed a Red Springs convenience at gunpoint last week.
Police Chief Ronnie Patterson said the men, both armed with weapons, entered the Jiffy Stop off N.C. 71 at about 12:10 a.m. on Thursday.
“There were just the two store clerks in the store at the time. The men came in and stopped one clerk walking toward the back of the store, pointed gun at her and demanded that she come back and lay on the floor. The men then demanded the other clerk give them money,” Patterson said.
He said the men fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and lottery tickets. The clerks were not injured. No one else was in the store at the time, Patterson said.
A video surveillance camera captured a facial image of one of the men.
One man is described as a black male, about 6 feet, 4 inches tall, 180 pounds, and wearing a black hat with a red-checkered jacket, a blue shirt and blue jeans. The other man was a black male about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds and wearing a black hat, blue-checkered jacket and blue jeans.
“Hopefully someone will be identify these guys,” Patterson said. “I’m confident that we’re going to catch them.”
It is the second time in three weeks that the store has been robbed. Police made an arrest in the previous case.
