LUMBERTON — A Lumberton woman’s mother says her 26-year-old daughter has been missing in Texas for three months.
Jereka Corianna Locklear was last seen by Gwendolyn Smith at their Back Swamp Road home on Aug. 19, according to Maj. Anthony Thompson, chief of detectives for the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
Smith said her daughter left that day to move to Texas to look for work. Smith reported Locklear missing on Christmas Day after authorities in Texas said she needed to file a report locally before they can start their search.
The report did not include where in Texas that Locklear may be. According to Thompson, Smith spoke to Locklear by telephone on Sept. 28. Locklear reportedly told her mother she had not found a job and needed money. Smith has not heard from Locklear since.
Locklear is an Indian female, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds. She has brown hair, hazel eyes and a tattoo on the left side of her neck.
Anyone with information should call the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-671-3100.
