Woman, 2 others charged with robbing bedridden grandmother

ROWLAND — A Pembroke woman, her boyfriend and an active soldier have been charged after tying up and robbing her bedridden grandmother, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
Catherine Ussery, her 22-year-old boyfriend, Justin Andrew Bodiford, and Christopher Flanigan, a soldier at Fort Bragg, were each arrested the week of Feb. 4, according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office. Ussery, 20, and Flanigan, 25, will appear in Lumberton’s District Court on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
According to the statement, Martha Tucker, who is Ussery’s 65-year-old grandmother, and 28-year-0ld Harold Britt were tied up inside their U.S. 301 home on Dec. 19. Bodiford and Flanigan, one of whom wore a Halloween mask, made off with seven guns, including a revolver and at least one shotgun, $100 in cash, medication, two cell phones and a woman’s purse, the statement said. Ussery’s role during the robbery is unclear.
Ussery, who lives on Ponderosa Drive in Pembroke, has been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, accessory after the fact and possession of a stolen firearm. She has been placed at the Robeson County Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond.
Flanigan and Bodiford have both been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of second-degree kidnapping and breaking and entering. Flanigan’s bond is set at $10,000; Bodiford’s is set at $75,000. Flanigan lives on Emma Lane in Raeford.
Bodiford, who lives on Barber Shop Road in Lumberton, was previously charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a dangerous weapon for shooting and trying to rob another man on Jan. 21 in front of Super Suds car wash on Elizabethtown Road in Lumberton.
