LAUREL HILL — Two people were killed in a two-car wreck Tuesday night near Laurel Hill, authorities said Wednesday.
According to WLNC, Brad Rivers, 30, and 42-year-old Linda Norton were killed.
Sgt. Scott Richardson, of the state Highway Patrol, told the Laurinburg Exchange on Wednesday morning that details of the wreck would not be released to a reporter until late in the day, but did not return calls before presstime.
WLNC reported that Rivers and Norton died in a head-on collision when one of the vehicles crossed the center line.
Roylin Hammond, Scotland County’s emergency services director, said he heard from paramedics who responded to the scene that the accident occurred in Laurel Hill sometime around 8 p.m. and involved two women and a man.
A passenger left the scene via medical helicopter, Hammond said. The identity of the passenger was not available.
According to an obituary in today’s paper, funeral services for Norton will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park.
Services for Rivers have not yet been announced.
The Laurinburg Exchange will update this story online as information becomes available, and in Friday’s edition.
