KELLY — A Bladen County teenager has been missing from his home in Kelly since Wednesday, June 11, and the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office is urging the public to keep a watch for him.

Dare Bartoe Mitchell, 14, was reported missing by his family at about 6 a.m. after they discovered a note.

“Mitchell had left his residence on Natmore Road overnight with clothes and a backpack,” said Chief Deputy Rodney Hester. “He left a note stating that he was running away.”

Hester added that Mitchell had previous run away on May 13, but was brought to the Sheriff’s Office two days later by a family member. He had managed to make his way to Winston-Salem.

According to family members and the Sheriff’s Office, Mitchell could be in Sampson County or again in the Winston-Salem area.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts or may have seen Mitchell is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 910-862-8141.
