LUMBERTON — Narcotics agents with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested five people and seized about 6 pounds of marijuana in separate drug busts.


After receiving complaints of illegal drug activity, agents searched a home on the 400 block on Stanton Drive, Maxton, on Friday evening.


They found about 4 pounds of marijuana and 58 grams of illegal prescription pills, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Most of the pills were oxycodone and some are valued at as much as $10 each.


Two cousins, 19-year-old Elliot Ryan Steen and 23-year-old Jarrod Lance Steen, were arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, conspiring to sell or deliver marijuana, trafficking opium or heroin, conspiring to traffic opium or heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.


They have each been jailed under $50,000 secured bonds. Elliot Steen lives on Addison Tram Road in Rowland and Jarrod Steen on U.S. 74 West in Pembroke.


The homeowner has not been charged and the investigation is ongoing.


Later that night, agents searched a home on Turnner Road in Pembroke and found about 2 pounds of marijuana and two firearms.


According to Sheriff’s Office, Ronald Burns Jr., 24, and Jock Clark, 22, who live in the home, were each charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, conspiring to sell or deliver marijuana, maintaining a drug dwelling, and possession of drug paraphernalia.


Devy Austin Hammonds, 27, of Locklear Road, is facing the same charges. All three have been jailed under $55,000 secured bonds. Burns was on probation when he was arrested.


Narcotics agents have been monitoring the home since Burns and Clark moved in a few months ago and neighbors began complaining.
