The Robesonian’s all-county football team and individual awards are selected by Brad Crawford based on observation, statistical analysis and opinion. Input from select coaches is also taken into account during the selection process.

This season’s 32-member all-county football team includes a four-time all-area playmaker, the county’s offensive and defensive players of the year and a 1,000-yard rusher starring for his third team in three seasons.

OFFENSE

QB — Jarrod Neal, Sr., Fairmont: The 2013 Heisman returned from an ankle injury and posted one of the area’s best-ever single season performances, passing for nearly 4,000 yards with 47 touchdowns.

QB — Malik Livingston, Sr., St. Pauls: As a first-year starter at quarterback, the county’s offensive player of the year accumulated nearly 2,600 yards of offense and was responsible for 24 touchdowns.

RB — Andrew Hill, Sr., South Robeson: After stints at Fairmont and Purnell Swett, Hill averaged 140 rushing yards per game en route to a 1,681-yard, 17-touchdown senior year. He also returned a kickoff and managed an 88-yard reception for a score.

RB — Juan Ellerbe, Sr., South Robeson: The power option in South Robeson’s star-studded backfield, Ellerbe tallied his first career 1,000-yard season, 12 rushing touchdowns and two special teams scores.

RB — Josh Sheridan, Jr., Lumberton: When healthy, Sheridan was the Pirates’ best player on offense and averaged 6.8 yards per carry.

WR — CJ McGeachy, Sr., Red Springs: McGeachy’s 85 catches was a county-high and his 1,117 yards eclipsed last season’s all-area total.

WR — Shemar Barfield, Sr., Fairmont: The first of four all-conference wideouts from Fairmont, Barfield was the team’s best with 16 touchdown receptions.

WR — Da’Shawn Fields, Sr., Fairmont: Jarrod Neal’s deep-threat caught 50 passes and was one of three county receivers to surpass 1,000 yards.

WR — Ethan Baldwin, Sr., Fairmont: Baldwin dominated from the slot, tallying 54 catches for 761 yards and 13 scores.

WR — Tyler Maynor, Sr., Purnell Swett: Maynor’s 64 receptions was second-most in the area and five touchdowns over his last three games was a Southeastern Conference-best.

WR — Bryan Carpenter, Sr., Lumberton: When targeted, Carpenter hauled in everything thrown his way and was Lumberton’s leader in catches, yards and receiving touchdowns.

OL — Shayron Jones, Sr., St. Pauls: Graded out as the Bulldogs’ top lineman for a second consecutive season and was an all-conference selection.

OL — Alex Jones, Sr., St. Pauls: A multi-year starter, Jones exceled as a pull in St. Pauls’ zone read attack.

OL — Adam Miller, Jr., South Robeson: The Mustangs’ most consistent and physical starter up front, Miller was used to spring a number of Andrew Hill and Juan Ellerbe touchdowns.

OL — Jamal Leak, Jr., Fairmont: At left guard, Leak was a dependable blocker inside.

OL — Silas Oxendine, Sr., Fairmont: Didn’t allow a sack all season as a senior as a member of the area’s most productive passing offense.

ATH — Blake Greene, Sr., Red Springs: Greene’s swan song was a 35-touchdown final season that followed a record-setting 63-touchdown junior campaign. He’s a four-time all-county standout.

ATH — Chuck Walters, Sr., St. Pauls: Split time at running back and wide receiver for the Bulldogs and finished with 15 all-purpose touchdowns including a punt and kickoff return.

DEFENSE

DL — Jazabeian Thompson, Sr., South Robeson: One of the area’s best speed rushers used his slender frame to lead the Mustangs in tackles-for-loss despite the opposition rarely running to his side of the field.

DL — Naim Bellamy, Sr., Fairmont: The Golden Tornadoes’ top defender in sacks and tackles-for-loss up front, Bellamy’s an all-conference and all-county selection for the second straight year.

DL — Donovan Locklear, Sr., Purnell Swett: A mean pass rusher and force against the run on defense, Locklear also played tight end and finished third on the team in catches.

LB — Zach Gibson, Sr., Fairmont: Gibson emerged as a senior as Fairmont’s leading tackler and was the first of three area linebackers named Three Rivers all-conference.

LB — Demetri Sheridan, Sr., Lumberton: Among the state leaders in total tackles, both solo and unassisted, Sheridan was the glue that kept the Pirates together on defense.

LB — Chuck Oxendine, Sr., Purnell Swett: The Rams leading tackler came into his own as a senior and directed Swett’s defense. Oxendine says Wake Forest and UNCP have shown interest.

LB — Markeiss Blue, Sr., Red Springs: The Red Devils’ top tackler for the second straight season, Blue improved in coverage and was a first-team all-conference pick.

LB — Tevin Thompson, Sr., Purnell Swett: Alongside Oxendine, Thompson was an important piece of Adam Deese’s defense at outside linebacker.

LB — Deandre Hallman, Soph., Red Springs: The only sophomore on this year’s squad, Hallman finished second on his team in tackles and also split time at running back.

LB — Tyler Roller, Sr., South Robeson: An area defensive player of the year candidate, Roller rarely missed a tackle in space and led the Mustangs in total stops.

DB — Javon Crawford, Sr., St. Pauls: Making plays was Crawford’s calling card in his first season as a defensive back after playing wideout the previous two years.

DB — Michael Smith, Sr., South Robeson: The Mustangs’ leader in interceptions with six, South Robeson’s three-year starter was its best player on defense and the secondary’s top threat.

DB — Travis Suggs, Jr., Lumberton: Suggs’ interception return for a touchdown at Swett sealed the Pirates’ second straight win in the Backyard Brawl rivalry series. He picked off a team-leading four passes despite missing seven games due to injury.

DB — Zach Caudle, Sr., Fairmont: A skilled starter in the secondary, the Golden Tornadoes utilized Caudle’s power against the run as well this season.
