Winter storm arrives in Bladen County
By Erin Smith
The weather in Bladen County is frightful right now as snow began accumulating early this morning and has continued to pile up.
Gov. Pat McCrory signed an emergency declaration early this morning. According to reports, this triggers the state’s price gouging laws and also frees up some resources as they are needed around the region.
Bladen County remains under a winter storm warning until 7 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13. According to the National Weather Service, “significant accumulations of freezing rain and snow are expected” across Bladen County. Travel conditions are anticipated to deteriorate through the evening hours and power outages may become a problem later on, according to the National Weather Service office in Wilmington.
Continue to monitor the Bladen Journal’s online site for more details of the storm’s progress as it passes through the county.
