The article on Mrs. Gaye Davis should include all her roles: professional educator, mentor in freshman seminar, professional respiratory therapist, role model and parent.

She wears a lot of hats and consistently sets a prime example for the students at WBHS in presence, demeanor and expectations. When she speaks, the smart students listen.

Mrs. Davis understands academics, athletics and the world of education. She was one of my son’s favorite teachers as she encouraged him academically to success.

Mrs. Davis, the faculty and staff at West Bladen gave Christian a launch to academic success. When I was finishing school in Durham, Gaye was the one who invited me to speak to her students on heart care, nutrition and exercise which rippled into acknowledgements for other educators and health care leaders.

She is a strongly positive community influence and experienced parent. While the award mentioned in the article may belong to the entire West Bladen community, Gaye was the right community leader to receive acknowledgement and applause. Well done to all!
