ELIZABETHTOWN — Sex offenders throughout Bladen County got a surprise knock on their doors Tuesday morning when officers with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Marshal’s Service, N.C. Probation and Parole, and the Elizabethtown Police Department paid them a visit.
Six groups of officers divided up a lit of more than 60 sex offenders and performed the one-day compliance check.
“The teams checked and identified that the registered sex offenders under the supervision of the Bladen County Sheriff’s Officers are compliant with their residence addresses,” said Capt. Rodney Hester with the Sheriff’s Office.
Hester added that there were four registered offenders that investigators will follow up with to determine if they were in violation of sex registry law.
Anyone found to be in violation, Hester said, will be charged with a felony.
