ELIZABETHTOWN — A fourth individual has been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place on Jan. 18 near the intersection of Quail and Davis streets.

On Jan. 21, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Donte Premiere Jones, 16, of Clarkton and, on Feb. 1, Elizabethtown Police Officer Blake Yandle took Jones into custody at about 1:15 a.m. in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Mill Street.

Jones was booked into the Bladen County Jail and charged with felony attempted first-degree murder. He remains in jail under a $500,000 secured bond.

The drive-by shooting last month took place at about 2:15 a.m. and injured Kevin White. His injuries were not reported and remain unknown.

Arrested in the incident were Saquon Covington, 25; Antonio Murchison, 20; and David Swindell, 17. Murchison and Swindell were each charged with felony attempted first-degree murder, while Covington was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

A .380-caliber Bersa Thunder that had been reported stolen in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Aug. 21, 2011, was reportedly found being carried by Murchison and he was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and felony possession of a stolen firearm.

Swindell was also charged with a number of drug-related violations.

Covington was released from jail on a $1,500 secured bond; Murchison remains in jail on a $509,000 secured bond; and Swindell remains in jail on a $544,000 secured bond.
