ELIZABETHTOWN —The Bladen County Board of Commissioners heard from Director of Health and Human Services Chris Harrelson this week regarding the new Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
According to reports, the goals of the program are to increase efficiency within the agency, increase effectiveness for both the Health Department and the Division on Aging, and create a new organizational culture.
According to reports, a transition team will be formed consisting of three members from the health department, three members of the former Department of Social Services, one member of the Department of Aging and BARTS, and Harrelson.
The purpose of the team is to receive input from staff, create a new mission statement and set a new vision for the newly created department, and develop short term and long-term goals.
In other business:
— DSS Director Vickie Smith gave the commissioners an update on the new N.C. FAST system.
— The commissioners scheduled a public hearing for Monday, Sept. 16, regarding a rezoning request for 1.31 acres for a used car lot to be located at 62 Old Abbottsburg Road, according to reports.
— In the consent agenda, the board approved a request declaring Saturday, Oct. 5, as Bladen County Big Sweep Day.
