ELIZABETHTOWN — Bladen County Sheriff Prentis Benston has announced two promotions this week.
Each of the promotions come as a result of the retirement of Chief Deputy Herman Dunn in the fall of 2013.
The first promotion moves Jeff Singletary to captain, which fills the position vacated by Rodney Hester when he was named to replace Dunn as chief deputy of the department. Hester was promoted in October.
According to Benston, Singletary will supervise the county jail, investigations and grants, as well as oversee the Viper radio system for Bladen County.
The second promotion involves Jeff Tyler, who has been made lieutenant over investigations, which is the position previously held by Singletary.
