WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Hundreds of pest management professionals from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia convened in Wrightsville Beach this week to kick off the 2014 Carolinas/Mid-Atlantic Summer Conference.

As part of the opening day activities, the North Carolina Pest Management Association welcomed its executive officers for 2014-2015.

NCPMA members are also attending classes concerning the latest research regarding pollinators, cockroaches and other pests.

The new officers include: President Scott Canady of Canady’s Services Inc. in Lumber Bridge; Vice President Lee Smith of Rid-A-Pest, Inc. in Morehead City; Secretary/Treasurer Dana McDuffie of McDuffie Pest Control in Elizabethtown; and Past President Burns Blackwell of Terminix Company in Greensboro.

“The Summer Conference is more than just a group of meeting. It’s a time of celebration as we kick off a new year for our association. I am excited about the opportunities that lay ahead for 2014-2015 and look forward to working with this excellent group of board members for the benefit of our entire industry,” said Canady.

The officers will serve a one-year term ending July 2015. Each of the executive officers has served previous terms on the board of directors and has been active in board committees.
