ELIZABETHTOWN — Picnics, sales, boating, or simply relaxing. Folks will have a variety of activities to choose from for Labor Day, whether they visit the annual Labor Day Sidewalk Sale in Elizabethtown or whether they choose to go for a swim at White Lake.
Folks arriving in town for the annual sidewalk sale will enjoy a bevy of bargains. Mike Suggs, owner of Fisher’s Men’s and Ladies Shop, said he expects the weekend to be a busy one. He said shoppers will find an array of bargains with items on the sidewalk reduced from 50 to 90 percent.
“The good thing about the Labor Day one (sidewalk sale), we have gotten some fall merchandise in,” said Suggs.
He said shoppers will be able to get the best of both seasons. Suggs said there will be discounts on shoes and flip-flops, too.
“Inside the store, we’ll have all of our summer merchandise half off,” said Suggs.
He added the store also has school uniforms available year-round. Suggs said the store keeps a range of sizes and all of the colors for each school.
Fisher’s will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today (Friday), Saturday and Monday.
Ray Britt, owner of Ray’s Furniture & Jewelry Liquidators, said of the sidewalk sale, “We look forward to it every year. We enjoy the fellowship.”
Britt said that the Labor Day Sidewalk Sale is not only good for the merchants but it also is good of the citizens of Bladen County and the surrounding counties who come out and enjoy a day of shopping in town.
“We appreciate those coming to shop with us,” said Britt.
He said his store will offer all furniture from 40 to 70 percent off and all jewelry will be offered at half off the marked price.
Store hours will be 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday.
Shoppers are also encouraged to check out all of the other merchants who will be offering sidewalk bargains during the holiday weekend.
