ELIZABETHTOWN — Third- and fourth-grade Bladen Lakes Primary students in the Battle of the Books Club made the most of their lunch break recently by using the time to meet with Shelagh Lane, the Community Relations Manager of Barnes & Noble Booksellers of Fayetteville.

Lane was interested in meeting the newly-formed club members as part of the store’s efforts to reach out to the community.

Students who made the Battle of the Books team at the school read numerous chapter books and compete in quiz competitions locally and eventually around the state. Bladen County Schools has an active middle school league, and plans to expand the elementary Battle of the Books presence in the district.
