Thomas Bradley “Brad” Carter

PEMBROKE — Thomas Bradley “Brad” Carter, 30, of 109 Pembroke Pointe Lane, Pembroke, was born April 5, 1984, in Cooke County Illinois to William Boyd carter and Brenda Jacobs Carter.


The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Saddletree Church of God, the Rev. Lawrence Garner and Bishop Willie Wynn officiating. Burial will follow at Lumbee Memorial Gardens.


Mr. Carter passed away May 14, 2014, at Bladen County Hospital. Carter graduated from Lumberton High School in 2002. He proudly served as a deputy with the Robeson County Sheriffs’ office. He previously served as an officer with the Rowland and Pembroke Police Depts. He received a degree at the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Orlando, Fla., and was a graduate of the BLET program at Robeson Community College. He was also a founding member of two local bands, Tribal Conflict and When Words Fail. He loved the outdoors, writing and playing music with his band, hiking, camping and fitness. But his greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his son.


He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Amos Jacobs and paternal grandmother, Bonnie Ree Carter.


He leaves to cherish his memories his parents, Brenda Jacobs Carter of Lumberton, and William Boyd Carter of California; paternal grandfather, David “Boyd” Carter, and maternal grandmother, Sudie Mae Jacobs, all of Lumberton; his son, Jack Bradley Carter and his soul mate, Shannon Brayboy of Laurinburg; three brothers, William Boyd Carter Jr. and his wife Sabrina, Kris Carter and his wife Melissa, all of Lumberton, David Carter and his wife Kawanna of Rowland; a sister, Candy Marie Carter Babb and her husband Mark, of Toledo, Ohio. He also leaves his four nieces, Kristen, Maya, Kaya and Avery; six nephews, Jeremy, Gaven, Christian, Nathan, Kustom and Sam; and host of family and friends.


The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Saddletree Church of God, 1508 Rennert Road, Lumberton, and at other times at the home of his brother, Kris Carter, 132 Parrot Drive in Lumberton.
