— Nov. 29, 1967: The J.S. Singletary Company of Clarkton, one of the largest builders of warehouses in the country, is awarded a contract to build one of the largest warehouses in the world near Atlanta. The building will be 3.5 million square feet and cost about $23 million.
— Nov. 30, 1978: An ice cream social is planned as a farewell gesture for Bladen County Sheriff John B. Allen, who is retiring after 32 years of service.
— Nov. 27, 1987: The Elizabethtown Jaycees delivers Thanksgiving food baskets for the needy families in the county to the Bladen County Department of Social Services.
— Nov. 28, 2003: The East Bladen Eagles are preparing to travel to Onslow County to take on the Southwest Onslow Stallions in a football game that will determine the state’s Class 2-A East Region champion.
— Nov. 28, 2008: Celebrity chef Jeff Henderson will make a visit to Smithfield Foods in Tar Heel as part of a visit to the region. He also plans stops at East Bladen and West Bladen high schools.
