— Feb. 7, 1968: Bladen County Commissioners approve an additional $8,000 for Bladen Technical Institute, $3,000 less than the original request of $11,000. The money was requested because of costs associated with renting space at an old church by the school.
— Feb. 7, 1979: Bladen County Board of Education members vote 3-1 to request that a bill which would provide a federally funded breakfast program to qualified students be voted against by state lawmakers.
— Feb. 8, 1988: Clarkton High School wins the Bladen County Quiz Bowl for the third straight time. Clarkton defeated a team from Tar Heel.
— Feb. 6, 2004: East Bladen High’s varsity football team is honored by Elizabethtown Town Council members for its 13-1 season and runner-up finish in the state’s Class 2-A East Region championship. The Eagles lost to Southwest Onslow, 23-17.
— Feb. 6, 2009: Bladen County Hospital begins the search for a new chief executive officer after interim CEO Kevin Jackson announces intentions to return to Cape Fear Valley in Fayetteville.
