I cannot believe that the Bladen County School Board allowed Memorial Day to be left off as a school holiday this year.

It is because of the soldiers who have served this country that we even have school systems like this, and to have the group that is elected to run the system turn their backs on them is a slap in the face to everyone who has served and died for this country.

Too bad the primary election is already over. I wonder how many of the ones who voted for those already in office knew that they didn’t care for our military or their families when they voted for them? They seem to remember other days to give everyone off each year, including some that have nothing to do with our freedoms or what our soldiers have given up for us.

It’s too late for the primary election (wish we could go back), but the general election is still to come, so we do have some hope. Remember that those already in office chose not to honor our fallen soldiers before you cast your vote in November. Remember those in office did not support our fallen heroes.

But we do have someone running for office who has served our country. Check it out before you vote for someone who doesn’t respect those who served. You can instead vote for someone who has served.

It doesn’t get any easier than that.
