ELIZABETHTOWN — The Baldwin Branch Missionary Baptist Church was excited about the opportunity to provide food baskets to those in need just in time for Thanksgiving.

Members of the congregation plus one guest provided 90 baskets to needy families of Bladen County through the Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy and Bladen County’s primary and middle schools. The baskets comprised of a complete Thanksgiving meal for a family of up to eight.

In each basket were a frozen turkey, stove top dressing, rice, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, green beans, Jiffy Corn Bread mix, cake mix, icing, sugar, Kool-Aid, gravy and cranberry sauce.

This 12-year ministry was incredibly gratifying and appreciative by the school personnel on behalf of their students.

Baldwin Branch is located at 4047 N.C. 242 South in Elizabethtown, where the Rev. Louie Boykin serves as pastor.
